Unique Sized Photos

Monday, March 11, 2019

If I am getting bored scrapping my typical 4x6 or 3x3 photo, I look for new and interesting measurements I can scrapbook.  In this layout, I wanted to create a grid, but with photos that are long and narrow.

These four photos are 1.5x4 inches.  They still tell the story of my daughter's birthdays in simple focused detail.  For instance, instead of showing the entire dessert display, I zoomed in on one unicorn cupcake.

I used a 6x6 paper pad instead of large papers, so that the scale of the pattern was more condensed.  I've had these wooden numbers in my stash for a while.  I used a paint dip technique on this 7 to add a splash of color.  This layout came together in under 30 minutes.  Try giving unique sized photos a try.  Happy Scrapping!

Grey is the New White?

Tuesday, February 19, 2019

Lately, I have been reaching for grey cardstock as a base to many projects.  I think it offers an alternative to white, while still making the other colors pop off the page.  For this layout, I used a free Silhouette die cut to make the arrows.  Then, I chose a 6x6 paper pad of Dear Lizzy papers to back them with.  The arrows were longer than 6 inches, so I had to line some papers making a small seam in the arrow, but you can't even tell if not looking closely.

I used an embellishment cluster around the photo of my daughters at Easter last year to draw your eye to the focal point of the layout.

This layout came together in 45 minutes including the background cutting and I absolutely love it.  Could it have looked just as good with a white background?  Yes, but the grey just added a little something different to my album.

I added my journaling to the top using my mm's old word processor.  I challenge you to use grey for a background.  Happy Scrapping!

Organizing 6x6 paper pads

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I've been in my new scrap room since April and as I've worked in it, I am learning what organization is working for me and what needs improvement.  I have been making a lot of cards lately and in doing so, I've realized that the loose papers that have already been cut into in my 6x6 pads are becoming a mess!  They always fall out of the sides of my pad and get crushed.

I looked online for a possible storage solution and came across these cellophane packaging that can also be used for cards.  I bought 200 on ebay for around $15.  Here is where you can find them.

On any pads that had sticky residue from the stickers manufacturers use to hold the pad closed, I covered the stickiness using washi tape.  This helps the pad move in and out of the cellophane with ease.

This is what the front and back of the pad looks like all packaged up with the scrap papers in the back.

A quick tip is when you are trying to put the pad back into the cellophane after use, use a ruler to cover the sticky strip and it slides right back in.

Now my pads are nicely organized and easy to use!
