Wall Collage

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

It has been almost one year that we have lived in our new home and slowly but surely we are decorating every room and wall.  A few months ago, I finally got around to completing a wall collage in the children's hallway.  There is a piece of wall between the linen closet and bedroom door that was just perfect for a wall collage.  Not only was it a blank canvas, but that canvas could also be viewed from the kitchen looking into the hallway.

My plan for this collage was to use "G's" to symbolize our last name, add family photo, and find something to meld the two together.  With the exception of the white frames that I got at Michaels on bogo, all other items were purchased at Hobby Lobby.

The piece that says "Love You" in the center was the color inspiration for the rest of the project.  It was originally $39.99 and I used a 40% off coupon on it.  I laid out the collage the way I wanted it on my hallway floor in front of the wall and then hung each item one by one.

This was a really simple way to highlight family photos in a place that is easily accessible to change them out as our family grows or takes newer photos.  Here are some pictures of the finished product.

I love the exposed yellow under the aging wood of this piece.  The keys add an amazing detail too.

  1. Love this! I did something similar with Ls in my sons room, no cute family pictures though. :)
