A much needed break!! Oh yeah, and a frame...

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Hi Guys!  I feel so disconnected to the outside world.  For the last 48 hours, I have been sitting in front of my laptop working on my dissertation.  It is the most gruelling process.  I finally had to go to my happy place (AKA: my scraproom) and get some much needed R&R.  I only how about two hours to spare, so I didn't want to delve into to too big of a project.

Since tomorrow's my 2 year wedding anniversary and my husband has been requesting a semi-manly frame for his desk in his office, I decided this would be my next project.  I used the Pyrus collection by Basic Grey and I think it had the perfect touch of manly colors!

I made the canvas sign using some Claudine Hellmuth sticky back canvas.  I sprayed it using my Lindy Stamp Gang products and distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz tool.  Then, I used my fingers to fray the edges and pick out some on the strings.  I used my crop-a-dile to add some copper eyelets.

The pears are cut out of the designer paper and then I cut another piece of the inside layer and placed it on dimensionals for some added interest.  I used some Tim Holtz foliage to be the leaves of one pear and to add some more copper metal accent.

One of my favorite things to do with the narrow side of a frame is to "lace" it with twine, tulle, or ribbon.  It adds a new material and doesn't waste the space on the other side.  I'm overall really happy with the way it turned out.

As a side note, I'm happy to say that I joined yourpaperpantry.ning.com.  I have my first ATC swap in February and I'm super excited.  The ladies over there are awesome and extremely creative.  I'll keep you informed of my scrappy adventures over there.  TTYS--Nicole

Altered Picture Frame

Happy New Year everyone!  Just thought you should know, I finally got my paws on some of that great recollection stuff at Michaels.  I'm very satisfied and even used some of the trim to make this frame.  One of my favorite things to alter are frames.  They make great gifts that are useful.  This frame is actually for one of my youtube friends.

I finally got to use my Lindy Stamp Gang products.  I love the shimmer they added to these flowers from iamroses.

I thought this saying complimented the butterfly theme.  The thickers used are from the dear lizzy collection and the papers are an old basic grey collection called Ambrosia.  I punched two butterflies using a Martha Stewart Monarch punch and overlapped them to give some dimension.

This was a really fun project and a good way to use leftover paper from an old collection.
