Using Dies on Layouts

Friday, March 29, 2019

I have been picking up some really adorable dies at Tuesday Morning for $5 or less.  The problem is I put them away and forget to pull them out when I am making layouts.  This month's Hip Kit had a lot of embellishments that had a transportation or explore theme.  I knew I wanted to make a layout related to pictures of my kids I had taken in various modes of transportation.

I got these arrow dies that also emboss at one of those trips to Tuesday Morning.  I cut them out using some of the scraps of paper I had leftover from previous layouts I made with my kit.

I used them to make a pattern up and down the page.  Then, I scattered different elements that were modes of transportation .  I added a few splatter of black ink and called this layout done.  I love the way it turned out.

Pop of Color on Back and White Background

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

Hi Everyone!  When I received my March Hip Kit and looked through the papers, I knew I wanted to use this black and white paper as a background.

It was an opportunity to use the embellishments in the kit that offer bright color and focus to the photos.  In these photos, my oldest is wearing a romper with bright green on it and lots of the embellishments had an emerald green color.  There was also a free silhouette cut of this word "Magic."

This allowed me to incorporate some of the bright papers that came in the kit too. I used the Heidi Swapp color blocked Thickers to enhance the brightness of the title.  The rainbow die cut on this monochromatic background really pops.

I really love how this one came together.  I encourage you to try using a black and white background.  Happy Scrapping!

March Hip Kit Layout: Using Punches

Monday, March 25, 2019

Punches sometimes sit in my drawers untouched for month.  I recent sold a third of my punches on facebook marketplace.  The ones I kept we common shapes like circles and hearts that can be versatile and used for a variety of projects.  Today, I decided to make a layout using a circle punch and scalloped boarder punch.

The colors of this month's Hip Kit lend itself well to summer or outdoorsy photos.  I took some of my favorite patterns and began punching to make a grid.

I knew these chipboard words were going to act as my title, so I made sure to add pops of black across the page. For the lighter patterned circles, I traced the outline with a black pen to add definition.

This kit came with a bunch of hearts that add pops of color around the layout.  I then used my scalloped border punch to add some blue to the left hand side of the page.  Have you used your punches lately?  If not, give it a try.  Happy scrapping!
